Michael Barber

My name is Michael Barber, and I am a 3D Artist and Graphic Designer based in the Manchester area.

I hold a degree in Visual Effects for TV and Film from a university in Manchester. My professional journey began at Lux Design, where I contributed 3D artwork for several retail brands. I developed a passion for motion graphics and 3D modelling, which led me to a role at Matmi in Macclesfield. During my time at Matmi, I worked on various projects, including developing a fire awareness platform for children, as well as designing games such as DiaryZapp, Lucia’s World, and the recently launched JNR Chef.

In addition to my graphic design responsibilities at Matmi, I supported the creative director in managing the company’s accounting and HR operations. My skill set includes graphic design, 3D art, web design, UX/UI design, and branding. I also played a key role in establishing a sister company, The Courthouse Collective.

I have since transitioned to a new position at Patrol Base, a leading online retailer based in Huddersfield specializing in outdoor and tactical equipment. As the largest store of its kind in the UK, Patrol Base offers airsoft gear, military surplus, and outdoor products.

In my current role as Social Media Manager, I thrive in a dynamic environment where I manage the promotion of hundreds of new products each month. I have also expanded my skill set by learning live-streaming techniques, including podcast production from our video studio.

Outside of work, my hobbies include photography, hiking, TV/film, and olericulture (the study of vegetable gardening).
